kterisma (κτέρισμα): object of value or personal item placed next to the dead body inside the tomb during the period of antiquity
note from the artist:
KTERISMA vase / sculpture / table piece is trying to investigate the connection between material and form that unconsciously and catholically dominates our aesthetical perception, particularly under the spectrum of history and symbolic juxtapositions, while testing the limits of this connection.
Is material free from the form?
Is the form free from the material?
What is more KTERISMA experiments with both the physical (gravity, craftsmanship) and the conceptual dimension of an object.
Can a utensil be a temple?
Can decoration be functional?
In other words KTERISMA is expressing a balance between the combination of the values each object includes (material, aesthetical, craft, functional, symbolic, chronological, personal value) in a high level, while at the same time questioning them.
