The Greek Institute of Architects in New York [GIANY] was invited to a discussion by GreeceGSD to present its actions and projects.
The presentation and discussion was held at the Harvard Graduate School of Design, Cambridge MA, and was attended by members of the GSD community, as well as Patras School of Architecture students on an educational trip visiting from Greece.
The presentation encompassed the philosophy and the agenda of GIANY. Member demographics, the Institute’s evolution, objectives and mediums, recent and upcoming events and projects were presented. The presentation was followed by a vibrant discussion, during which participants raised issues such as the Institute’s sustainability through time and its viability through sponsors’ funding.
This event, hosted by GreeceGSD, was the first that took GIANY physically out of the borders of New York, hoping to inspire young architects, soon to embark on their professional lives, on the notion of collaboration and the fruitful results of such endeavors.
GIANY [Greek Institute of Architects in New York] was founded in 2013 and has since been aiming to bring together the Greek architects who live and practice in New York. Through its actions, GIANY plays a central role within the Greek architectural community in New York, as a platform for sharing architectural ideas, strengthening its members’ professional voices, advocating for the work of Greek architects of New York, and acting as a social initiative.
