The França Xica apartment renovation is designed by itsnotastudio. Inspired by Bauhaus design, features a casual and fresh style that reflects the client’s vibrant personality. Despite a tight budget, strategic modifications and a blend of original and modern materials created a cohesive, spacious, and inviting living space.
The color palette of the entire apartment, inspired by the Bauhaus, along with the choice of furniture and decoration, follows a casual, fresh, and fun style that perfectly reflects the personality of the client—a young, single man eager to embrace life.
After several months of searching for his first home, the right place was finally found: a small apartment in need of renovation, located on the fourth floor of a building in the heart of one of the busiest neighborhoods in the city, yet tucked away from the hustle and bustle.
Given a tight budget for the renovation, the original layout of the apartment was largely preserved. Only the partition between the bathroom and the kitchen was modified, moving it a few centimeters to create space for columns in the kitchen, resulting in a cleaner, more spacious, and linear design.
The doors separating the hallway from the living room and the dining room from the kitchen were removed, and the corners of the walls adjacent to these openings were rounded to create a sense of fluidity and unity between the spaces.
The original structural elements of the ceilings were restored, and in the living room, the existing plaster on one wall was removed to reveal the passage of time and the various layers of paint that had accumulated over the years.
In the bathroom and kitchen, sand-colored microcement flooring from Ingremic was used, while the rest of the floors feature herringbone-effect laminate parquet in a natural oak finish from Finfloor. These materials meet in the dining room, connected by sinuous curves that mirror the rounded walls of both spaces.
The kitchen structure is from Ikea, with coverings from Cubro Design. The fronts are from the lacquer range in Celeste, and the countertops feature a Marble Green laminate finish.
The same design choices were applied to the custom furniture in the bathroom, where Cubro finishes were again used to cover an Ikea module.
