Mexican sculptor Pedro Reyes and his fashion-designer wife Carla Fernandez are probably enjoying one of the most inspired house-studios we have seen lately. Located in Mexico City, the couple’s residence contains a magnificent double-height concrete library, some stunning paving floors and omits an overall brutalist, yet contemporary, atmosphere we really like.
Pedro and Carla’s house reminds us some of the finest examples of Mexican architecture, namely Luis Barragán’s works.
The raw finishes and the colour explosion on the exterior facade could be a reference to the renowned architect. This can be explained by Pedro Reyes background, as he was initially trained as an architect before turning to art.
Exclusive furniture, designed by the couple, such as a pair of Perdo’s Mano-Sillas chairs and a geodesic light fitting complete the house’s unique character.
