Gigon/Guyer Architects achieved international acclaim with their first structure, the Kirchner Museum in Davos. This was followed by numerous other museum projects such as the extension to the Kunstmuseum in Winterthur, the Archaeological Museum and Park Kalkriese near Osnabrück, the Museum Liner Appenzell and the two new buildings for the Swiss Museum of Transport in Lucerne. Recently, Gigon/Guyer has provided new solutions in the residential sector and worked on a variety of office buildings. The Prime Tower in Zürich, the highest building in Switzerland, plus annex buildings, was completed on the former Maag industrial site not long ago.
One of the current themes addressed by Atelier WW is how to re-use industrial sites located in residential zones. Atelier WW has won various competitions in this field: e.g. the ABB industrial site, the Rheinfelden brewery site and the Kunzareal in Windisch. Atelier WW has contributed to city centre projects through Messe Zürich, the high-rise ensemble in Zürich-Nord, the Stadthaus at the Max-Bill-Platz in Zürich Oerlikon and a media building on the river Sihl. In recent years, Atelier WW has successfully taken part in a number of international competitions. In Beijing, for example, it has contributed to the opening of a hybrid building for shopping, leisure and entertainment.
