The main goal of this project is to regenerate the existing waterfront in order to become safe, comfortable and friendly to the pedestrians, both permanent residents, and tourists, who spend their vacations in this small greek village.
In order to promote walkability we create separate zones for pedestrians, cyclists and vehicles of low velocity (when necessary), in order to achieve safety and clear mobility. Additionally, we introduce new open public places as destinations, for both action and relaxation. Playgrounds, open art spaces, mixed used areas and organised areas for events are some of the new places of the public realm that can revitalise the overall seafront zone.
New, ecological materials such as, permeable concrete pavement for a better water management, LED technology for the new lighting design and the introduction of water jets and new flora in the landscape, that help minimise heat island effects and enhance local ecosystems, are some of our gestures for the evolution of the existing landscape into a new, radical and contemporary “loci”.
