Chinese artist Ai Weiwei explores his complex relationship with Beijing – “a city that doesn’t belong to its residents” – and takes us through his neighbourhood Caochangdi, a migrant and artists village on the urban fringe where he has tried to carve out a space for freedom of expression. The short film is the first in a Guardian Cities / Tate special series `The Artist and Their City`.
