The Smart City 2013 Symposium “The Dao of Being Smart”, curated by CMoDA, invites international and local standard makers, researchers, city government and industrial leaders to discuss the latest development of Smart City solutions. Smart City is an integrated urban development and management model based on information technology and orchestrated application systems. In China it is strategically attached to the development of new urbanization.
The symposium investigates the R&D trend of Smart City solutions from the perspective of information design in the areas of sensing the city, urban planning, city management, public security, emergency response, smart community to smart living (environment, health and energy saving), to promote the cross-disciplinary collaborative innovation. The symposium elaborates how design thinking and approach are applied to the smart city development, a complex and cross disciplinary subject, with the aim to escalate the design industry to information design as future opportunity. In addition, the symposium includes a mini-symposium “Made by Us”, co-organized by CMoDA and The New Institute and The Mobile City from the Netherlands, to explore the use of new media technologies in a participatory approach to redeveloping urban industrial heritage.
