Alternate Realities was the first solo show by Francesco Ciccolella that took place at Das T/abor in Vienna as a part of Vienna Design Week 2017. The show that opened on 29. September 2017 and ended on 8. October 2017, broached the issue of reality in the current post-factual era. In the context of filter bubbles, fake news and alternative facts, the exhibition told stories from post-factual everyday life and explored how we perceive our environment, each other and ultimately ourselves.
“In this kind of self-initiated, experimental projects I explore the medium of illustration apart from commercial content. I think as an illustrator you’re also a communicator. With Alternate Realities I seek to tell visual stories about a topic that I believe is relevant to all of us today.”
Alternate Realities is composed of drawings, prints and sculptural works.
I’m interested in how our common reality fades when boundaries between truth and lies become blurred and emotions, rather than facts, dominate public discourse.– Francesco Ciccolella
All prints from the show are available as limited edition prints at shop.francescociccolella.co m.
