In 2008 and 2009, the award was won by two of the most acclaimed agencies in Germany: Strichtpunkt (www.strichtpunkt-design.de) and KMS-TEAM ( www.kms-team.com) respectively. In 2010, with the Beetroot team within the audience of the award ceremony, it was BBDO Germany`s (www.bbdo.com ) turn to pick up the big title.
A year later, Beetroot, a studio founded in Thessaloniki (capital city of the Greek north) in 2000 by three friends, having grown to consist of eleven people, is the proud winner of this very important distinction.
The “Agency of the year” title is not something you apply for. It is up to the Red Dot jury, to decide and chose among the hundreds of competitors, coming from 40 different countries, on which one of them is the right candidate to receive this high distinction, and be awarded the Stylus trophy, handed down by the previous year`s winner.
It is a milestone in the true meaning of the term, for Greek design as a whole, since it reflects the potential of Beetroot`s creative might. And one has to keep in mind that it did not come out of the blue, nor is it an one-off moment. Among a considerably long list of awards, Beetroot has also won the titles of:
– European Design Agency of the year 2008
ED-Awards (www.europeandesign.org)– Greek Agency of the years 2006, 2008 & 2010
EBGE – Greek Graphic Design & Illustration Awards (www.ebge.gr)
The 2011 Red Dot jury has also decided to award Beetroot Design Group for the following projects:
45th Dimitria Festival – Illustration – Red dot Best of the best
