BELA LOULOUDAKI EXHIBITS AT MOLTENI&C DURING THE MILANO DESIGN WEEK 2015

Architect and jewellery designer, Bela Louloudaki is the creator of Jewellery for the Curious collection which will be shown – during the Milano Design Week 2015 – at Molteni & C showroom, that this year celebrates the 80 years of the Group.

Clean lines, geometric shapes and vivid yet refined colours are the essence of her collection which will be presented in the Kristal, a glass and aluminium display-cabinet designed by Dante Bonuccelli for Molteni&C.

Tactile and colourful, the collection originates from the serial composition of a single element: a tube of ceramic that allows for endless formal and chromatic configurations. The result is a geometric pattern that supports the anatomy of the wearer.
The use of colour is essential: sophisticated colour combinations, by infiltrating into the pattern, contaminate the uniform rigour of the mesh through asymmetric decors.

Every ceramic element is either coated with a colour layer or it is dipped in gold, after a preventive bath of copper and silver. A strictly handmade process, equal to the assembly of the tubes, that enables continuous deviations during the work in progress, making each product look like a unique piece.

Bio
Born in Greece, Bela Louloudaki is an Architect who graduated from Rome`s University La Sapienza. She runs her own architectural firm and studio in Athens, and has developed numerous projects in the housing field, also creating unique spaces as an interior designer.

In parallel she has pursued her other passion, jewellery design. A passion that has evolved over time, to bestow a very modern interpretation on her primary material, clay. The clay is used either in its natural form, or immersed in gold, following immersions in bronze and pure silver for better adhesion. The result is a gold surface that retains its brilliance and elegance but retains the lightness of clay. Gold and clay intertwine to create shapes and forms that tell a story. A simple and paradoxically exciting narrative of color combinations and geometry.

Material, colour and pure lines, are the essence of her unique handmade jewellery. Through each piece, the designer reveals her nature as an architect, her long-term relationship with Italy and her deeply Greek roots.
Her collection – Jewellery for the Curious – is nothing else but a synthesis of her multifaceted approach to life. Refined, discreet but not conventional. Contemporary but not eccentric, as it radiates elegance that has nothing to do with luxury, in a sense where style should not be confused with excess.
