VOIS ARCHITECTS

EN The architectural office “VOIS architects” was founded in Athens in 2006, by Katerina Vordoni and Fania Sinaniotou and is constituted by a team of young architects.

 

Katerina Vordoni, born in 1980 in Athens, completed her Bachelor in UCL, at the Barttlet School of Architecture (2001) and her Diploma at the AA, Architectural Association, (2004), in London. In her year out, she worked as assistant architect in the architectural office “Atelier 66, Suzana + Dimitris Antonakanis” – Athens and then in the office of “Sasaki Associates” – Boston USA.

 

Fania Sinaniotou, born in 1981 in Athens, she completed her bachelor in the UEL, University of East London (2001) and her diploma at the RCA, Royal College of Art, in London (2004). In her year out she worked as assistant architect in the architectural office ISV – Athens, and in the office of Sasaki Associates, in Boston, USA, after her diploma in the office Space Out in London.

 

The two met at high-school, studied at the same time in London, worked together at Boston and at their arrival at Athens started up “VOIS architects”. In 2009, Martha Georgiou, graduate from the Architectural School Of the University of Patras, becomes part of the team, adding the experience she gained at prominent architecture offices. Having their base in Athens, the office is active mainly in the Greek region but also abroad. The main object focuses on private work that covers a wide spectrum of uses and scales; residences, group of residences and shops.

 

Drawing inspiration upon daily life, habits, moments and objects, the architectural course of each project is defined. Having as a basic rule the alternation, every project is a new start given the possibility to reconfigure the materials, redefine the form and rethink the function. Dialogue is incorporated in the process of design and in the axis of growth and improvement of an architectural product. The analysis and recording of each individual, typology and environment in the course of study are essential. The product of the design process is a concept that creates an architectural story read and translated in different scales.

 

Objective of the office is that each architectural undertaking of independent scale contains substance, quality and creativity. Their work has been published in a variety of architectural magazines. In 2011 they were invited to participate in the  Wallpaper*  Architect’s Directory Exhibition at the Architectural Foundation, in London, as one of twenty world`s best emerging architectural practices, given an open brief to design the ultimate rural retreat. Part of their work will be presented in the 13th International Architecture Exhibition in Venice «COMMON GROUND», as part of the KM Properties associated architects, in the Greek pavilion under the title “Made in Athens”.

 

 

ΕΛ Το μελετητικό γραφείο “VOIS architects” ιδρύθηκε στην Αθήνα το 2006 από την Κατερίνα Βορδώνη και τη Φάνια Σινανιώτου και αποτελείται από μία ομάδα νέων αρχιτεκτόνων. Από τότε παρέχει υπηρεσίες μελέτης και επίβλεψης σε διαφορετικούς τομείς και κλίμακες αρχιτεκτονικών έργων.

 

H Κατερίνα Βορδώνη γεννήθηκε το 1980 στην Αθήνα. Το 2001 ολοκλήρωσε τις σπουδές της στην αρχιτεκτονική στο UCL – Barttlet school of Architecture του Λονδίνου. Το-2004, απέκτησε το Diploma of Architecture στην Architectural Association του Λονδίνου. Στη συνέχεια, εργάστηκε στο «Ατελιέ 66, Σουζάνα + Δημήτρης Αντωνακάκης», στην Αθήνα καθώς και στο γραφείο Sasaki Associates, στην Βοστώνη, ΗΠΑ.

 

H Φάνια Σινανιώτου γεννήθηκε το 1981 στην Αθήνα. Το 2001 ολοκλήρωσε τις σπουδές της στην αρχιτεκτονική στο UEL του Λονδίνου. Το 2004 απέκτησε  το Master of RCA in Architecture στo Royal College of Art του Λονδίνου. Στη συνέχεια, εργάστηκε για ένα χρόνο ως assistant architect στο αρχιτεκτονικό γραφείο ISV, στην Αθήνα και τον επόμενο χρόνο με τον ίδιο τίτλο στο γραφείο Sasaki Associates, στην Βοστώνη, ΗΠΑ. Οι δύο γνωρίστηκαν στο σχολείο, σπούδασαν την ίδια παερίοδο στο Λονδίνο, δούλεψαν μαζί στη Βοστώνη και κατά την επιστροφή τους στην Αθήνα γραφείο “VOIS architects”. Από το 2009, μέλος της ομάδας είναι και η Μάρθα Γεωργίου, που αποφοίτησε από την Αρχιτεκτονική Σχολή του Πανεπιστημίου Πατρών, προσθέτοντας την πείρα της από τη συνεργασία της με αξιόλογα αρχιτεκτονικά γραφεία.  Αντλώντας έμπνευση από την καθημερινή ζωή, τις συνήθειες, τις εικόνες, τις στιγμές και τα αντικείμενα οριοθετούμε την αρχιτεκτονική πορεία κάθε έργου, το οποίο αντιμετωπίζεται ως μοναδικό.

 

Με βασικό κανόνα την  εναλλαγή, δίνεται η δυνατότητα στον επαναπροσδιορισμό της φόρμας μέσα από διαφορετικά γεγονότα και εξατομικευμένα υλικά. Ο αρχιτεκτονικός διάλογος ενσωματώνεται στη διαδικασία σχεδιασμού, αναλύοντας διεξοδικά το άτομο, το χώρο, το περιβάλλον (κτισμένο και μη), στον άξονα της ανάπτυξης και βελτίωσης του αρχιτεκτονικού προϊόντος. Με αυτόν τον τρόπο, το κάθε αντικείμενο σχεδιασμού αποτελεί μια αυτούσια σύλληψη, μια συγκεκριμένη αρχιτεκτονική ιστορία, η οποία διαβάζεται και μεταφράζεται σε διαφορετικές κλίμακες. 

 

Με έδρα την Αθήνα, το γραφείο δραστηριοποιείται τόσο στην ελληνική περιφέρεια όσο και στο εξωτερικό. Το κύριο αντικείμενο εστιάζει σε ιδιωτικά έργα που καλύπτουν ένα ευρύ φάσμα χρήσεων και κλιμάκων – κατοικίες, συγκροτήματα κατοικιών, ξενοδοχεία, γραφεία, καταστήματα κ.α. Στα έργα συμπεριλαμβάνονται συμμετοχές σε διεθνείς διαγωνισμούς αλλά και σε δημιουργικές ομάδες εργασίας όπως αυτή της ΚΜ πρότυπης Γειτονιάς.

 

Έργα τους έχουν δημοσιευθεί στο διεθνή και εγχώριο τύπο. Το 2011 προσκλήθηκαν να συμμετάσχουν στην έκθεση Wallpaper* Architects Directory Exhibition που έλαβε χώρα στο Architectural Foundation στο Λονδίνο, ως ένα από τα 20 καλύτερα ανερχόμενα αρχιτεκτονικά γραφείο. Ενώ συμμετέχουν στην 13η Διεθνή Έκθεση Αρχιτεκτονικής – La Biennale di Venezia «COMMON GROUND», ως μέρος της Ελληνικής συμμετοχής με τίτλο “Made in Athens”, στην παρουσίαση του KM Properties.
