Acre Urban Studios in Monastiraki, Athens | by Norma Interior

 

During our first visit to the sight, we immediately fell in love with the original mosaic flooring, and decided to make it our starting point for our design process.

 

Situated within the urban setting of central Athens, the colors were selected to create a nice contrast with the outdoors. Hues of blues and reddish brown were used throughout as to compliment the colors of the mosaic flooring.

 

As these spaces were previously used as commercial offices, we decided to create a cube as our only separation that would accommodate the bathroom. On the sides of the cube we attached the main functionalities, the kitchenette, the bedframe and closet space all of which were custom-made. 

 

The bathroom features square tiles and light blue grout, and a high glossy cyan ceiling to give the impression that you are situated under water, while a round opening was used to allow natural light in.
