Dangerous Minds Concept Store in Athens / IOMA Architects

A concept store in Athens’ historical center where an ever-changing dialogue between old and new, black and white, shadow and light creates a unique emphatic designing line. Barely touched, the rough inner shell of the building, contradicts the ray of light created by a white sleek ribbon unfolding across the store. The black, glossy, monolithic volume of the fitting rooms enhances the antithesis of this delicate white structure, creating a constant interaction among them.

 

 

The selection of the materials indicates the use of them, white metal for shoes display, black for apparel, white marble for reception desk and cement and wooden cubes for sitting and fitting areas. A key element of the architectural concept was the lighting design with several lighting systems adding another dimension and intensity to the space.

 

 

The quality of custom made constructions and the detailed design resulted in the creation of a luxurious minimalist space. The basis of the architectural design was conceptual authenticity and a determination to correspond to the original architectural concept.
