The sea food restaurant – cocktails bar called “Gin Fish”, is located in one of the best spots in the city of Thessaloniki. The restaurant lies opposite to the city’s landmark, the White Tower, facing at the same time the sea front. Furthermore, it’s direct view to Thermaikos Gulf, the port and consequently, to the liquid element, water, Aegean and Mediterranean Sea, highlights the natural environment of any marine existence.
The fish market of the Mediterranean ports, the marine products sold in them, and the way these are caught, provided the reference and inspiration for the design of the project. Large opening-metal frames were created in the façade for the direct contact with the liquid element, so that there is a “flow” coming inwards. These same frames create recesses – benches to the outer side, framed by a wood paneling – vertical fishbone flooring installation. The same vertical floor is used inside the bar-restaurant, on its normal “form”,
as a full – empty game between the vertical and horizontal surface of the façade and the floor.

Το sea foods restaurant – cocktails bar με την ονομασία “Gin Fish“, βρίσκεται σε ένα από τα καλύτερα σημεία της Θεσσαλονίκης, απέναντι από τον Λευκό Πύργο, σύμβολο της πόλης, και συγχρόνως με θέα προς στην παραλία. Η άμεση θέα προς τον Θερμαϊκό κόλπο, το λιμάνι και κατ` επέκταση το Αιγαίο, την Μεσόγειο, το νερό, το υγρό στοιχειό, υπογραμμίζει το φυσικό περιβάλλον κάθε θαλάσσιας ύπαρξης.
Τα fish market των λιμανιών της μεσόγειου, τα θαλάσσια προϊόντα που πωλούνται σ` αυτά, καθώς και ο τρόπος αλίευσης τους, υπήρξαν αναφορά και πηγή έμπνευσης για τον σχεδιασμό του project. `Ετσι, δημιουργήθηκαν μεγάλα ανοίγματα – μεταλλικά πλαίσια στην όψη, για την άμεση επαφή με το υγρό στοιχειό, ώστε να υπάρχει η «ροή» του προς το εσωτερικό.
Τα ιδία αυτά πλαίσια δημιουργούν εσοχές – καθιστικά από την εξωτερική πλευρά, που πλαισιώνονται από ξύλινη μια επένδυση – κάθετο δάπεδο σε τοποθέτηση ψαροκόκαλου. Το ίδιο κάθετο δάπεδο χρησιμοποιείται και στο εσωτερικό του καταστήματος, στην κανονική του μορφή, σαν να υπάρχει ένα παιχνίδι κενού-πλήρους μεταξύ της κάθετης και οριζόντιας επιφάνειας, της όψης και του δαπέδου.
