Centered on a striking wooden core this Palaio Faliro apartment balances private and shared spaces. Designed by OA-STUDIO to reflect a teacher’s lifestyle and passion for books, the home features custom-built shelving and open, light-filled interiors that seamlessly integrate her literary collection and daily routines.

Articulated around a central wooden core, the project’s common areas are seamlessly integrated into an open, versatile and adaptable space bathed in natural light.

A key aspect of the apartment’s transormation is the tension between private and common areas, a negotiation of interconnectedness and separation, continuity and diversity.

Situated on the third floor of a typical polykatoikia building in Palaio Faliro, the apartment was transformed to accommodate the lifestyle of a teacher and her extensive collection of books.

Central to the design is a tailored bookcase framing the main entrance, offering generous storage for books and showcasing them as a defining element of the interior.

Additional shelving and discreet storage solutions are integrated into the perimeter walls, ensuring that the space remains uncluttered while accommodating her daily routines.

The cooking area, defined by an island that doubles as a seating backrest, is subtly elevated to provide uninterrupted views of Pamphylias Park through the living room windows.

The focus on creating a visually cohesive and connected space is reflected in the careful selection of materials and colors.

Soft wall tones are paired with wooden veneers and hardwood floors to provide warmth, complemented by pink lacquered cabinetry, sandblasted marble, and precast primrose yellow concrete floors that add subtle touches of contrast and texture.

The private areas of the home—the bedrooms and main bathroom—are designed with a more subdued and intimate atmosphere.

In the master bedroom, earth-toned walls provide a neutral and calming backdrop, while the linear desk beneath the window reflects and amplifies the sunlight.

A see-through fireplace links the master bedroom to the living room, offering a visual connection without fully compromising privacy.

The main bathroom takes on a more dramatic tone, with a dark green ceiling that envelops the space, creating an intimate ambiance and challenging the otherwise neutral palette of the apartment.

A marble vanity anchors the space, complemented by a fluted glass divider that provides privacy for the shower area while maintaining the flow of natural light.
