The concept of Suite Home is simple; a hotel suite with the privacy and individuality of a home, a home with the amenities and facilities of a hotel suite.
The property is located in a ‘cart postal’ of Paris, right in the middle of St Germain de Pres, one of the most picturesque neighbourhoods of the French capital. From the living room window, between the white undulating voile curtains, you can gaze for hours at people going about their everyday grocery shopping, merging with others filling up the charming bistros around the corner of the lively rue de Buci and St. André des Arts.
The building, in which the apartment is situated, dates back to 1800 as does most of the architecture in the area. The Suite Home is an enclave of contemporary simplicity within the quaint ambiance of Paris. It acts as a pure white picture-frame through which to view the bookshops, flower stalls, and bakeries of the surrounding neighbourhood.
The apartment was fully renovated, and the design dealt with limited space, typical of Parisian properties and multiple habitational possibilities, dictated in the brief, by providing a flexible layout. A system of translucent white curtains offer alternative arrangements and give a theatrical character to Suite Home. With the press of a button a curtain envelopes the lounge area, defining a ‘soft’ guest bedroom within which the couch transforms into a bed. In the bedroom the curtain wraps around the sleeping area, screening a series of elements such as a study, a wardrobe, a window and the entrance to the en-suite WC.
The Suite Home in Paris is the first of a series of suite homes created by the Vassilopoulos family (owner of St. George Lycabettus Hotel_Athens, Paradise hotel_Andros) that will be created around the world. A winter resort in Switzerland and a Greek island have already been chosen as locations for the next two Suite Homes.
